Read Description:

Seminal synthesizer pioneer hooks up with electronica maestro.

For the few people out there who haven’t come across him before, Jean Jacques Perry is a truly seminal French electronic pioneer who was discovered by Jean Cocteau and taught Edith Piaf to play synth (no really!). He is perhaps best known for the track “EVA” which was remixed by Fatboy Slim in 1997 to become a chart hit and advert staple. He also co-wrote ‘Remember’ with Air for their Moon Safari album and still performs around the world at the ripe age of 78. Luke Vibert is the man behind Wagon Christ, Plug, Amen Andrews, Kerrier District and lots more, he’s recorded for Warp, Virgin, Mo Wax, Ninja and Rephlex label and helped revolutionise British electronica in the early 90’s.

The ‘Moog Acid’ album covers many of the styles you would expect from such a creative partnership, insane cut ups using JJP’s original samples, drum and bass, disco, hip hop and funk beats, the voice of Jean Jacques, together with trumpet, sitar, percussion and all manner of Moogs and electronic manipulation, to create one of the most inspirational and enjoyable albums you’re ever likely to hear. Their interpretation of “Frere Jacques” is a splendid amalgamation of magical twinkly bells with squelch bass, like Dumbo checking out the “Pink Elephants On Parade”. “Ye Olde Beatbox” really epitomises the collaboration, bringing the best of today’s technology and rhythms together with sixties electronic sonic sounds- Barberella helps Logan’s Run slip through The Matrix!
