Beautifully twisted folk pop sing-a-longs with a generous splash of electronica.
From a background including shoegazers Chapterhouse, a Soho basement and tron wunderkid Max Tundra came forth Tunng, now on their third album and still sounding ahead of whatever game you choose. From the first clanging, jangling notes of Good Arrows, you know you're in for a treat… while the album retains the sense of experimentalism that is Tunng’s calling card, this is their most accessible album to date. A bewildering array of instruments never overpower their songwriting prowess, which comes to fruition on this third album. ‘’Bricks' arrives in a flurry of slide guitar and electronic scree before finding a jaunty Moog and acoustic guitar chug to support a sing-song melody’. Soup is heralded by twinkly keys, crackly samples and what sounds like a comb being played before exploding into a drill and bass break - sheer magic. Maturing beyond the folktronica tag, it seems Tunng are turning into a pop band. Maybe they always have been. Instrumental versions are also available.
