Around the world with the king of cool - quality global lounging.
Shawn Lee literally has ‘Miles Of Styles' and so he should, his is a story of a boy growing up with the rich heritage of a half Lebanese, half American Indian mother and an Irish-American father, on a journey taking in Witchita, L.A. and London along the way. He has been recording his own brand of funk doused off-kilter brews for 13 years now and he is still more difficult to categorise than ever. There is no denying that his music works brilliantly with visuals, Ping Pong Orchestra tracks have featured in many TV series including: Malcom In The Middle, Lost, Desperate Housewives, CSI: Miami, Ugly Betty, movies such as Oceans 13, The Break Up, The Bank Job and ads for BMW, Cinemax, Jaguar, Barclays, Exxon amongst others. The Funky Tiger has also recently completed the soundtrack for surf film "Under The Sun".
This album is a trip round the world with a multi-instrumentalist who refuses to stay in one place stylistically or instrumentally, hear Shawn play sitar, hurdy-gurdy, waterphone, banjo, zither, tablas and more. Each track is inspired by a different place, be it China, Greece or the Caribbean, to give us a trip around the world in 20 easy-listening steps - this is quality global lounge music performed with panache. "Lagos Calling" is a strangely funky instrumental, the perfect Bond theme if Hong Kong Phooey was playing 007. "Italy 73" comes on with so much swing it is difficult not to sashay through the streets of Rome with a lap dog under one arm and a sharp dressed boy on the other. Ciao!
