Read Description:

A potent 70s-inspired mixture of folk and groovy psych-rock.

The Yellow Moon Band is the lovechild of Jo and Danny who created and run the massively successful and beloved annual Green Man festival, the focal point of the UK nu-folk scene. Sounding like a perfect Sixties Fleetwood Mac they come on more Hillage than Gong, more Hacket than Genesis, and certainly more Velvet Jacket than Leather Jacket, their sense of fun pervades.. There is boundless energy and wigged out psychedelia here, enough to make even the straightest festival virgin want to rip off their clothes and fug like all the coolest dudes in the seventies festival docs! As Jo and Danny say “the real reason we sound like this is that we like doing a pill and having a little dance every now and then” hold the front page: prog-folkers in dance and smiles shocker!

So tough to narrow down some key tracks here, but if pushed “Chimney” (from their debut), is a hooky little belter with superbly hazy vocals that grows bigger with every stroke, hard to imagine that it hasn’t come from an incensed drenched sweaty basement in 1972.

Remain patient through the long intro on “Lunadelica” (again, from the debut) and you shall be rewarded! The band’s accomplished musicianship and perfect production technique manage to create a sonic beauty that twists and turns without ever losing sight of the sledge-hammer groove at it’s core.

If all that wasn't enough - watch out for the remix of “Cave” from Richard Norris’ “Time And Space Machine” that caused a stir.
