Dreamy psychedelic pop that whisks you back to summertime in the Sixties
Formed in childhood from a shared love of groove-based instrumentals, library music and acid jazz soundtracks, Nottingham quartet The Soundcarriers present an eclectic celebration of mellifluous trancelike music that cajoles the soul and soothes the senses. A cornucopia of flutes, tablas, analogue keyboards and haunting vocals, debut album "Harmonium" magnificently channels the spirits of Pink Floyd, Can, The Free Design, Stereolab, Zero 7, Ennio Morricone and many more in this trip-notic homage to ‘60’s Joe Meek influenced psychedelic pop.
Returning in 2010 with second album “Celeste”, The same authentic analogue warmth pervades, but with the addition of new sounds, playful blips and bleeps suggesting an extended musical canvas. Another blast of dreamy summer flecked sound with some slightly jazzier tones and awesome grooves!
‘Last Broadcast’ floats through the mind with some solid bass action, whilst ‘Rolling On’ bounces along soundng like the Carpenters playing a Kinks B-side. ‘Time Will Come’ is euphoric yet calming, subtle yet grandiose. Meanwhile "Caught By The Sun" provides the perfect summertime groove, invoking a sense of the ocean as tranquil rhythms flow masterfully into wave upon wave of crashing crescendos.
