Description:

Fast, furious, frenetic indie-rock with dance in it's heart.

The Longcut are back with new release "Open Hearts". This is the rough-edged, vital, visceral sound of a band at the peak of their powers.

In a progression from album number one, we still have the shamanic howls, crunching bass and hypnotic guitar from before– but now it’s fresher, trimmer and more focused than ever. Produced by friend-of-the-band and Nine Black Alps guitarist David Jones, there is a definite pop sensibility shining through with undulating electronics, fuzzy guitars and big chord structures. There is a nod to more dance-y acts such as Simian Mobile Disco in the electronic production, creating a winning rock-pop-dance hybrid. Lyrically, it’s upbeat, happy, lovestruck even, but with that weighty sonic sucker-punch behind it to counter-balance the sugar.

Listen to 'Evil Dance' for a marching beat and chanting vocals reminiscent of Muse, the contrasting 'Tell You So' for a more mellow, shoegazey feel, and 'Repeated' for the dance side of things.
