Dynamic, sun-kissed guitar pop with brooding undertones and woozy harmonies.
Dealing in everything from anthemic rock to folk-orienteated pop and plenty more besides, Motorifik is the brainchild of Phil Kay, composer and also member of Working For A Nuclear Free City, along with Idrisse Khelifi. The duo are able to draw on the atmospherics of both New Order and The Cure at their peak, as well as the arena-sized indie rock bands such as Doves.
There's a hazy, psychedelic theme that runs throughout their work, especially where the pair delve into the bubbling electronics which underpin many of their finest moments. Motorifik craft songs which are poignant and uplifting, equally adept at fist-pumping anthems and bittersweet folk-inspired strums.
'The Cause' stomps like Primal Scream's rock n roll side fully unleashed, while the beach-electro-tinged 'Ghosts' radiates euphoria and conjures images of white sandy beaches under deep blue skies. Elsewhere, the breezy 'Sleep Forever' is propelled by twanging guitar and heart-warming harmonies, giving a 21st Century take on surf-pop.
