Description:

Shimmering with graceful vocals, energised with tribal rhythms and off beats. We represent European master rights. Chrysalis represent publishing.

School Of Seven Bells acclaimed debut Alpinism was an otherworldly record, shimmering with graceful vocals, energised with tribal rhythms and off beats. Since the release of said record the band have been constantly on the road, honing their live show and focusing their efforts on songwriting and performance. In the last two years they've not only coalesced into a band, but a band with a distinctive signature, and this signature shines bright on the bands second and most recent offering. Disconnect From Desire's lead track and first single "Windstorm" signals the transition as its instrumental drone slides seamlessly into angelic female vocals. Far from fuzzy and undefined, the song draws clean, three and a half minute pop parameters, much like the album as a whole. It’s not a comparison I’ll make regularly, or take lightly but this record draws more than a few similarities to the pop princess Madonna’s comeback record ‘Ray Of Light’. I don't want to force the comparison, but like Madonna, SVIIB create niche, underground sounds, but perfectly position them in the accessible world of pop. Perfect.

Quotes:

With the band now considerably more settled, the release of Disconnect from Desire is confirmation that SVIIB’s meticulous balance between the spiritual and choral has reached a confident, polished plateau. BBC Music

It's an addictive dream-pop blueprint, yet it's only when the percussion powers down, as on closer "The Wait," that the band hit the ethereal heights they're shooting for. Q Magazine

The album runs the dream-pop gamut, from dizzyingly energetic to loopy and surreal. Paste Magazine
