Slowly paced, soothing sweet-nothings leading to a land of peace.
‘’The record is designed to unwind itself as it goes along, as the music becomes softer and more relaxed, eventually becoming as instrumental as the heart beat.’’ - Essie Jain
Following her two previously well received records Essie, hailing from Britain, found her inspiration for her third whilst now residing in New York. Perhaps initially you’d think of the hustle and bustle, however, its less obvious and more simple, which epitomizes this record from start to finish. Inspired by family and friends around her expanding their brood, Essie realised that the world was in dire need of songs to soothe babies to sleep, whilst also appealing to desperate parents' soothing needs. The song titles give indication of their lyrical content - see 'Lay Down', 'Tiptoes' and 'Oh I Love You' - but the songs are discreet and charming, never sickly. On each lullaby, this tranquil songstress is accompanied by either an a acoustic guitar or keys, double tracked delicate harmonies and splashes of glockenspiels. Lovely.
