Melodic, dark, indie influenced rock from Eric Elbogen
Say Hi has broken up thirty seven times in the last decade. But the bedroom recordist Eric Elbogen, who performs everything you hear on the Say Hi records always manages to continue moving forward. The prickly narrator/composer comes across like a brooding barfly who is a closeted romantic that can turn a memorable phrase on command.
His latest release Um, Uh Oh is weary and blue-noted, revealing, personal and pained experiences through the expressiveness in Eric Elbogen’s performance. With the use of raspy, forceful vocal delivery and a thick production punch really driving forward the overall tone of the record. Whilst still keeping a focus on sexy bass lines, spooky organs and swaggering rhythms. This record has a polished balance of edge with familiar accents of youthfulness, and an upbeat forwardness.
“With Um, Uh Oh Elbogen delivers his finest, most unified album. Truly beautiful.” Under The Radar
“There’s more energy on Um, Uh Oh than in Say Hi’s entire back catalog.” Alternative Press
