Infectious indie rock with catchy hooks and blissful harmonies

The Soft Pack, previously known as The Muslims, are an LA based quartet who make infectious indie rock music, containing catchy hooks and blissful harmonies. The band worked with producer Eli Janney of former 90s rock outfit “Girls Against Boys” whilst recording their debut self-titled album on Heavenly recordings, enhancing their gritty garage rock sound. It is this album that has earned the band comparisons to artists such a Surfer Blood, The Hives and The Strokes.

Stand out tracks on the album include “C’mon”, an upbeat track that is driven by fast jabs of guitar teamed with pounding drumbeats, leading to a chorus that boasts idyllic harmonies. “Parasites” opens with solid percussion that acts as the focal point for the track, a crawling bass line interweaves as fuzzy guitars riffs and the grainy vocals of Matt Lamkin are layered over the top, creating a mood of anguish.

Quotes:

“Blazing, red-hot rock” - Clash

"(The Soft Pack’s) blurry, disaffected rock reminds us of New York rock when the The Strokes were the biggest band ever, and also Spacemen 3 minus the reverb and plus a bunch of dirt." – The Fader
