Epic, orchestral indie from these Ivor Novello-winning songwriters.
Cherry Ghost are an indie rock band from Bolton, England who create epic, orchestral indie. The band have previously won an Ivor Novello award for their songwriting talents, with their sound encompassing a modestly theatrical feel. 2010 saw the band release "Beneath The Burning Shoreline" a follow up to their debut in 2007, in which the band have furthered developed their expansive sound.
Lead tracks off this album include "Kissing Strangers" a track in which Simon Aldreds' distinguished vocals croon over a backdrop of shimmering synths, and beautiful string arrangements that swirl throughout, in turn creating a heightened mood. "A Month Of Mornings" contains a wistful feel, opening with a pounding bass drum that drives the song along as luscious guitar melodies entwine with one another. Delicate piano melodies are then injected which contrast against Aldreds' gritty and heartfelt vocals.
