A spirited blend of folk, country and bluegrass
James Walbourne in a singer songwriter from London, England. He melds the genres of country, bluegrass and folk within his work. Despite still being in his late twenties he built up an impressive musical CV, having played with artists such as The Pogues, and The Pernice Brothers. In addition to this he has carried out session work for Jerry Lee Lewis, Edwyn Collins and Linda Thomson. “The Hill” is Walbournes’ debut release with Heavenly recordings, released in March 2011.
Stand out tracks from the album include “Songbird” which contains a heartfelt feel. Walbournes’ vocals tell the tale of an unrequited love and swoon over a beautiful acoustic guitar melody and delicate shuffling percussion. Title track off the album “The Hill” is a folk number featuring twangy guitar riffs that provide the backdrop for Walbournes gritty vocals to be layered over.
