Chilled out math rock rhythms fused with synths and Brit pop vocals.
This duo came together through a mutual love of film scores, heavy beats, and weird guitar tunings, all which can be heard in their own music in various shades. They cite everything from the Wickerman soundtrack to Wu-Tang to Baths as influences for their unique sound of melodic electronica, and it was that sound caught the attention of blogs.
Their self titled ep opener ‘Hands That Sleep’ begins with what one assumes might be some sort of drum manipulation, but is actually the recordings of door slams mashed together, add in a ’90s sounding guitar riff and then come the synths. Paired vocals take over the track, until they too become distorted to sound more like a robot. Then comes a taste of some sort of spoken word stating, ‘That was music for moving…’ As the track closes all the sounds are slowly pulled out to leave just the guitar.
When writing, it sounds like an overload of ideas. But when listened to, the duo is somehow able to make it all come together to sound like a perfectly timed piece of music and the idea of taking any of it out is simply preposterous. Allow yourself to become immersed in the sound of Plant Plants, you wont be disappointed.
