Jaunty pop and bruised ballads with lush 60’s style arrangements.Long time friends James Levy and Allison Pierce are a duo specialising in the deliverance of sumptuous duels of Love and war akin to the kind of classics Serge Gainsbourg recorded in the late 60’s with Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin. Levy (in true bohemian fashion, living in a windowless Brooklyn basement, sleeping during the day, reserving the night-time purely for writing) has written a masterpiece. The track ‘Glorious’ was covered by Allison Pierce whilst in ultra cool folk rock family band The Pierces and whilst visiting Coldplay, Pierce just so happened to hand a copy to Coldplay’s bass player Guy Berryman who subsequently “fell in love” with the both their voices and jumped at the chance to produce the album. The result? Stunning vocals, velvety strings and suave horns in lush arrangements. A document of romance in all it’s guises which has allowed James to quit his day job and focus on breathing fresh air into a world dominated by urban electronica with tried and tested lungs.
