Revered Danish pop-experimentalists parade into Wonderland.
Denmark's Efterklang, the strange beautiful and unique creation of 4 childhood friends have become globally revered musicians and performers garnering rave reviews for their uplifting epic symphonies. They followed up their underground hit of 2004, "Tripper", with "Parades" comprising of 11 majestic, otherworldly pop songs, it manages to be both magnificently ambitious and engagingly intimate; a breathtaking panorama of sound with few clear antecedents. Music with no boundaries, 250 audio tracks to make one song then recorded in analogue and with over 30 guest musicians from choirs to brass to strings. As the band describes it, "We like the idea that these songs are a huge parade moving past the listener , yet all the elements fit together". Founder member Rasmus Stolberg also runs the Rumraket label, another member of the Woodwork Music family.
Key Tracks: "Mirador" is cut from a different cloth, spun from raw ingredients, carefully stitched and lovingly embroidered with fine detail like a rich tapestry. Jon Brion-esque keys and bells introduce us to another magical world before brass stabs march us even deeper into this dream. "Caravan" sounds like it was created for one of compatriot Hans Christian Anderson's fairy tales, overwhelming and occasionally unnerving, calm is restored by the end.
