Extravagant, fun and elegant pop from indie music’s favourite go-to string arranger....
Raised wholly on classical music until his early teens, Owen Pallet has fit rather a lot into his thirty-odd years. Since studying composition at university, he has toured, arranged, and otherwise worked with a whole array of musical luminaries: everyone from Grizzly Bear and Arcade Fire to the Pet Shop Boys and the Last Shadow Puppets album.
But it’s Pallet’s solo creative output under the moniker ‘Final Fantasy’ that has occupied much of this mastermind’s time. His music tends to be elaborate and adventurous - something of a musical fantasy novel, an immersive other world for listeners to lose themselves in. Often lead by his first instrument, violin, Pallet’s work shows he is as adept at commanding a symphony orchestra as he is a vintage synth. Classical arrangements intertwine with synthetic sounds and looped vocals to create music that is simultaneously triumphant and poignant, extravagant and intimate.
