Celebrating their 10th birthday in 2008 Melodic have released over 50 records starting with the production and composition genius that is James Rutledge aka Pedro to their latest a download only EP from US wunderkind Bernard Farley aka Outputmessage via the Smiths-like indie melancholy of The Isles, the epic pop rock of Windmill, the prog anthems of Baikonour and the in yer face hooks and cheeky lyrics of Sheffield guitar band, Harrisons.

The US indie scene has been a massive influence on the label and that country is where they have sourced many of their signings i.e. The Isles and Outputmessage, who have struggled to find their own toehold in their own country. Conversely Working for a Nuclear Free City enjoyed nominations for the US equivalent of the Mercury prize alongside LCD Soundsystem and Feist and had a sell out tour their earlier this year whereas the band as still relatively unknown in their native UK.

Possessed of a drive and passion for music that is a prerequisite for anyone wanting to succeed in these financially testing times, label boss David Cooper also runs a hugely successful music press company, Inhouse Press, and has recently started to label manage lots more of the best of the US independent music scene.

Woodwork have watched Melodic grow over the last 10 years and we are incredibly chuffed they are still around and still breaking the rules.
